Advising Student Athletes
General Eligibility Guidelines
- All student-athletes must be enrolled in 12 hours to be eligible to compete in a given term
- Student-athletes classified as juniors must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA to remain eligible
- Student-athletes must have passed a minimum of 24 hours during the preceding calendar year to be eligible
- To become eligible for a second year of competition a student must have passed 24 hours. For a third year, 48 hours, and for a fourth year, 72 hours.
- Repetition of courses are not included in the 24 hour rule. Example: if a student-athlete takes ENG 112 in the fall, receives a D and retakes ENG 112 in the spring, this does not count as 6 hours towards the 24 hour rule. It only replaces the original 3 hours of ENG 112.
