Sometimes when you click on a link in Blackboard to open
a file, instead of the file opening, the system appears to return to the Blackboard login
screen. ITS has investigated this problem, it appears to be machine-specific,
and seems to be related to a setting in Internet Explorer. ITS does not believe that this
is a problem with Blackboard itself or with the Blackboard server. ITS continues
to investigate the situation. In the meantime, there is a simple workaround:
Steps
- Instead of clicking on the link,
right-mouse click on it.
(Macintosh users use Ctrl-Click
instead)
- In the pop-up contextual menu, select
Save Target As …. (Macintosh
users select Download Link to Disk)
- Select a location to save the file
- If you want to save and use this file repeatedly, then
you should save it to your Y
drive
- Remember that the desktop security program added to
LRC computers means that any file saved to the local hard drive will be erased
upon restart!
- Click

- You can now open the file as you normally would any
file.
