Overview

There are a number of workshops that we can do (scroll down to see the list!). Generally, we offer technology workshops in two ways:

The following is a list of the workshops that we can do. If there is something that you need covered that is not listed, just ask!

Tech Gadgets “How To” Need to know how to use a data projector? Want to borrow the teleconferencing phone and are not sure how to use it? This workshop will show you how to use the various pieces of equipment that can be checked out from ITS … and it will be “hands-on”.

Using Electronic Resources in LRC A demonstration of the electronic databases available including a review of new databases and new features in “old” databases. hands-on with plenty of time for questions.

Blackboard 101
The Basics
What is Blackboard? This session will answer that question. We will show you how to add course materials, announcements, and more.

In this session you will learn how to use the Blackboard board, char room, group settings, and grade book

Building Web Pages 101 The Basics
This course is for those that have never done a web page but want to start. After a general introduction to the concept of a web site and how one is structured, you will be introduced to Microsoft Front Page.

Building Web Pages 102 The Basics
This course is for those that have some understanding about what a web site is but have little or no experience with Microsoft Front Page. We will introduce you to Front Page and build from there.

Computer FUNdamentals Would you like to know more about how your computer works? When do you click and when do you double-click. Where do your files go when you hit the SAVE key? And more!

Images for Blackboard, PowerPoint and the Web How do you: Create images using your new digital camera? Get them off the internet? Re-size them? Scan them? Save them? This class answers these questions, any you bring with you, and more!

GC Network FUNdamentals Are you bewildered by Reba, Roscoe, Gandalf and PAWS? Not sure what a "Y" drive is and how to use it? Do you understand what a Server does for you? Come to this class and all of this will be explained in a very non-technical manner.

Microsoft Access 101 The Basics
Just getting started with Microsoft Access? Or you want to get started using this database? In this workshop we will start at the bottom (you know little or nothing about Access) and work up. By the end of the session, you will have created your first Access database!

If you are just getting started with Excel, or want to start, this workshop is for you! We will start at the beginning and work up.

This class will answer all of the questions you ever had about working with charts in Excel, and more!

Technology Boot Camp January '03

Scheduled Workshops

There will be no scheduled workshops this January. We need time to complete the setup of remaining the T3 Center equipment (new  scanners, DVD recorder, etc.). If you need any help, we will still do "Workshops On Demand"

Open House

We will have special “Open House” activities to introduce you to the new, T3 Center in the LRC later. Watch for details.

Registration

You must register for the Scheduled Workshops. To do so, just email ITS and let us know the name of the workshop you will be attending.

IDEAS Sessions

Whenever we hold IDEAS Sessions, we will order box lunches each day from Made From Scratch (if you need a menu email ITS) so that we can the lunch break as a time to “talk tech”, or anything else that may be relevant. Orders will be called in at 9 am each day. Location will be announced.
