Dr. Tom Cooper joined the Business Administration and Economics Department as Professor of Economics and Chair of the Department in the fall of 1999.  After growing up in South Carolina, Cooper obtained an A.B. in Economics from Davidson College in 1977 and subsequently earned a Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton University in 1984.  Before coming to Georgetown College, he taught at the University of Florida and at Lyon College (located in Arkansas).  He also served as department chair for several years at Lyon.  Cooper has conducted research in the areas of antitrust economics and strategic firm behavior.  For six years he served as an Associate Editor for the Southern Economic Journal.  Cooper and his wife have two children.
