Areas of research interest: Position and image of women in late Renaissance drama; portrayal of sin and repentance in the work of Daniel Defoe.

Dr. Allen is the recipient of the 1997 Rollie Graves Technology Excellence Award, the 1998 John Walker Manning Distinguished Mentor and Teacher Award, and the 2002 Cawthorne Excellence in Teaching Award.

Hobbies: gardening and doing beadwork.
