To major, you will need:
- 33 hours in English above ENG 112, plus
- 6 hours of allied courses
Of those 33 hours, 9 hours are required of all majors:
- ENG 211 English Literature Survey I
- ENG 213 English Literature Survey II
- ENG 335 Shakespeare
Distribution Areas
The remaining 21 hours must include at least one class in each of four distribution areas. These four distribution areas are:
- American Literature
- English Literature before 1700
- English Literature 1700-1900
- Comparative Literature.

3 Hours of English Literature before 1700 (Choose at least 1 class)

- ENG 475 Topics in Renaissance Literature
3 Hours of English Literature between 1700-1900 (Choose at least 1 class)
- ENG 309 Neo-Classical Literature
- ENG 389 Victorian Literature
- ENG 339 Romantic Literature
- ENG 419 English Novel
- ENG 479 Topics in Nineteenth Century Literature
3 Hours of Comparative Literature (Choose at least 1 class)

- ENG 334 Twentieth Century Poetry
- ENG 384 Twentieth Century Drama
