What
is Ropes?
Ropes--or
the Alpine Challenge
Course--is a series of ropes, logs, and
cables constructed to create a challenging series of
obstacles.

Figuring
it out together
In
this 4 hour activity, you, your instructor, and your
Freshman Seminar classmates will work together to overcome
these obstacles and develop leadership skills and problem
solving methods--and have a great time doing it.

Don't
laugh too much!
You
will focus on team victories, not individual triumphs. Team
trust and cooperation are the the name of the game.

Cooperation
and trust
During
the course, you are presented with problems that require
your class's physical and mental cooperation--the attempts
and results are creative and fun.

Facilitators
Discussion
of your problem solving processes, guided by a trained
facilitator, is a key part of the experiential approach to
learning.
Each
Alpine Challenge Course group will have a trained
facilitator who will guide your class through attainable
challenges. Physical and emotional safety are a top
priority, and all equipment and procedures conform to
industry standards.

You
will be encouraged to try new things and stretch beyond your
comfort zone. All participants, however, are free to
determine their own level of participation.
The
course is located on the East Campus Athletic Complex of the
college.
