Course Description: This course
is a survey of the Civil War and Reconstruction. Emphasis will
be placed on the factors which contributed to the outbreak of
the war, the conduct of the war, the effect which the war had
on American society, and the efforts to rebuild the nation after
the war.
Course Objectives: Students
will be able to discuss the factors which contributed to the coming
of the Civil War, the forces which influenced the outcome of the
war, the effects of the war on the course of American history,
and the factors which shaped the efforts to reconstruct the nation
after the war.
