Textbooks and Required Readings: Students are required to read the following books:

    J. M. Bumsted, A History of the Canadian Peoples (Toronto: Oxford University Press, 1998).

    J. M. Bumsted, ed., Interpreting Canada's Past, 2d ed., vol. 1: Pre-Confederation (Toronto: Oxford University Press, 1993).

Additionally, we will be reading every week from Maclean's magazine, the Canadian equivalent of Time and Newsweek. Student subscriptions will cost $10.00.

The professor may, from time to time, assign additional readings to supplement the required books listed above.
