William A. (Billy) Sunday was a profoundly important figure in American revivalism.  He traveled across the country preaching against wickedness and particularly the evils of "demon rum," or alcohol.  His ministry was devoted to the conversion of sinners and the prohibition of alcohol.  He preached to over 100 million people during his lifetime.
