All web pages produced by students in History 338 must include the following four required elements.

• Include your name on each separate page you make, perhaps by saying: "This page was created by [Your Name]." Most web sites put this information at the bottom of the page.

• Tell people how to contact you about your web page. Usually this is done by including your email address somewhere on the page, perhaps by your name as author. You can include a hyperlink email address so that when the viewer clicks on your email address, their email program will pop up to send you email. If you are using a word processor to make your web page, look for the "Insert Hyperlink" command or button. For the hyperlink, type:

"mailto:your_address@georgetowncollege.edu".

Or, if you are using WordPad or Notepad to hand code your page, type the following where you want the hyperlink to appear:

• Include the date last updated at the bottom of your page: "This page was last updated on mm/dd/yy."

• Include a link back to the History 338 Supplements page. If you are using a word processor to create your page, use the insert hyperlink command to insert this link:

"../../338supp.htm"

If you are using WordPad or Notepad to hand code your page, type the following where you want the hyperlink to appear:

These common, required elements are available on our course web site for cutting and pasting into your own web pages. Under "Course Supplements," click on the hyperlink called "Common Elements for Student Pages" or go to this URL:

You will also find on this page, cut-and-paste scripts which will allow you to use background images, logos, and hyperlink buttons from the course web site on your own web pages. The use of these images is entirely optional. They are provided simply to make it easier for students to use images and hyperlinks to Georgetown College sites on their web pages.
