GC Email for Students via the Web

The advantage of web-based email is that students may access their GC email from any computer anywhere in the world that has an internet connection. Furthermore, whereas email accessed via Eudora is stored on the student's Y drive, email accessed via web-based email is stored on the email server. Thus saved email will not affect the storages limits of the student Y drive. Be advised, however, that there are quotas on the amount of email that can be stored on the email server.

Why Should You Forward Your GC Email?

It is your responsibility to regularly read your Georgetown College email. However, it is not always convenient to check more than one email system. If you forward your GC email, then you need only check one system for all email.

More importantly, there are several systems on campus that permit faculty and staff to automatically send email to groups of students. For example, faculty can use PAWS (see below to learn about PAWS) to send email to all students in their classes. Thus if you fail to forward your GC email, and also do not check your GC email regularly, then you may miss important and time-sensitive email related to your classes.

bullet If you use a non-Georgetown College email system, such as HOTMAIL, you should forward your GC email to that account. Click here to learn how.
