INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOWNLOADING AND INSTALLING
TURBO PASCAL OVER THE CAMPUS NETWORK

 

Turbo Pascal is a windows based programming language used primarily by students in Computer Science courses. For questions concerning the use and configuration of Turbo Pascal, please see your instructor.

1. Create a shortcut to run Turbo Pascal:
  1. Right-click the desktop
  2. Choose New, Shortcut, and in the command line field type \\roscoe\tpw\tpw.exe
  3. Click Next, choose an identifier for the shortcut, and click Finish.
bulletIf using Windows95:
  1. Map a drive to \\roscoe\tpw.
  2. From the Program Manager group, choose File, New.
  3. Choose Program Group and click OK.
  4. Type in a descriptive name for the group (Turbo Pascal) and click OK.
  5. Choose File, New again.
  6. Choose Program Item and click OK.
  7. Type in a descriptive name for the item (Turbo Pascal) and click OK.
  8. In the command line field, type x:\tpw.exe where x is the drive letter chosen in step 1.
  9. Answer Yes, you want to continue even though the specified path points to a file that may not be available during later Windows sessions. Live dangerously.
  10. A new icon for Turbo Pascal in the group Turbo Pascal should now be created.
bulletIf using Window 3.x:

The first time you run Turbo Pascal you will get an invalid drive or directory warning. Click OK until these annoying messages go away. You should not see these messages on subsequent launchings.

The first time you exit Turbo Pascal you will get a sharing violation message. Click Cancel, then choose drive C as the location for the tpw.cfg file and click OK. You should not see this message on subsequent exit.
