Instructions for Connecting Windows XP Professional Computers to the Campus Network

Choose StartControl PanelSystem to open the System Properties dialog box:

(if Control Panel is in Category view, change it to Classic view)

bulletNow click on the Computer Name tab in the System Properties dialog box

bulletClick on the <Change> button to open the Computer Name Changes dialog box

bulletMake the following changes:
bulletchange the Computer name field to your Georgetown College network userid and add the letter c at the end
bulletselect the Domain radio button and put in your domain (stu for students or fast for faculty/staff)
bulletClick <OK> 

bulletYou will get a window asking for your User name and Password. 
bulletEnter your Georgetown College network userid and password

bulletClick <OK> 
bulletYour will get conformation when your computer has joined the domain

bulletClick <OK> 
bulletYou will be told that you must restart your computer

bulletClick <OK> to close the System Properties window
bullet

You will get a window asking you to restart your system

bulletClick <Yes> 
bulletAfter you have rebooted your computer, you must add yourself as an Administrator of the computer. 
bulletAt the login screen, login as Administrator using the administrator's password you entered during setup.
bulletIf you didn't enter a password, it is probably blank
bulletChoose StartControl Panel to get:

bulletClick on User Accounts to get:

bulletClick on the <Add> button

bulletEnter your Georgetown College network id for User name 
bulletEnter the appropriate Domain ( STU for students and FAST for faculty/staff)
bulletClick the <Next> button

bulletSelect the Other radio button
bulletChoose Administrator from the drop-down list
bulletClick the <Finish> button
bulletReboot your system.
bulletWhen you reboot your system, you will get a login window asking for User name, Password and Domain. If Domain does not show on that window, select the options to display domain and select the proper domain.
