Dr.
Sigrid Suesse, a native of Kassel, Germany, received her MA and PhD in
German Language and Literature in 1979 from the University of California,
Irvine. Between
1977 and 1983 she taught German at the University of Kentucky and
Georgetown College and German, world literature and English composition
at Transylvania University. In 1987 she received a Master of Science
degree in Computer Science from the University of Kentucky where she taught
Computer Science during the 1986/87 academic year. She worked as a
staff programmer for IBM and Lexmark both in Lexington, KY and Böblingen,
Germany from 1984 until 1994 when she joined the faculty of Georgetown
College. Her teaching and research interests
include German culture and literature, Turkish-German culture,
the German Green Party, the Holocaust, the Faust-theme in literature and
film, learning and language acquisition theories and learning and teaching
methods, and the application of computer tools in language learning and in the
teaching of culture. She has
published a book
on the drama Nathan the Wise by
Gotthold Ephraim Lessing (1729 -1781), the German man of letters, theorist
of the arts, and Enlightenment proponent of religious tolerance, and is
currently working on computer applications for the language and culture
classroom. |
