John Wert Campbell  is Director of Choral Activities at Georgetown College.  Dr. Campbell came to Georgetown from Gardner-Webb University, where he taught in the School of Divinity and directed the auditioned undergraduate choir.  Before his appointment there, he served as Music Area Chair and Director of Choral Activities at Milligan College. He also taught previously at North Greenville College and Longwood College. Campbell earned the Bachelor of Music degree in music education from Samford University (1980), the Master of Music degree in choral music from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1985), and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in church music from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (1993). He has had articles and reviews published in Choral Journal and Southern Baptist Church Music Journal, and is a published composer and arranger. He has served numerous churches as minister of music, and was a missionary Journeyman under the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, engaged in music and student work in the East African country of Malawi.
