After the requirements in music have been fulfilled, 18 hours of courses numbered 300 or above must be taken.  Only 8 of these hours may be taken in music in order to stay under the required 56 hours, and may include (three) additional upper-level applied-study hours.

This leaves 10 hours of upper division course work to be taken outside of music.  Some of these hours should be taken in the minor area.

Other upper division courses may be taken in the general requirement areas.  Careful planning from the fall semester freshman year is of the utmost importance.
