Georgetown College
Department of Music
The PRAXIS
Music Education students, first and
foremost, do study for the PRAXIS! These tests are not
inexpensive, and there is no reason for not passing the first time. By way of
anecdote, a GC music student recently failed a portion of the PRAXIS.
The student then studied before retaking it and did remarkably
well the second time. Imagine that! Too bad the studying didn't happen
before the first attempt.
A review of music theory, and music
history and literature, will serve you well. Music theory content for
MUS 111-212 may be reviewed at
http://spider.georgetowncollege.edu/music/burnette/index.html.
You should be familiar with the
content of the Georgetown College Teacher Education and Certification
Handbook. Below is some information excerpted from that handbook.

contact your advisor or any music faculty member for assistance. We are
here to help you!
Should you be
unsuccessful in your first attempt to pass any portion of the PRAXIS,
you are directed to contact your academic advisor, who will put you in
contact with the appropriate faculty member to work on a remediation
plan before the test is retaken.
