Be familiar with the content on the L & M Sheets (heh heh,
vague enough?).
Be able to describe the characteristics of, identify or create
any of the dozen or so nonharmonic tones we have studied.
Be comfortable with the various suspensions and how they are
formed and resolved.
Be able to provide the figured bass symbols for seventh chords in
all four positions.
Be able to describe the chord quality of various seventh chords
(MM, Mm, mm, dm, dd). Remember, the first letter refers to the
quality of the triad. The second letter refers to the
quality of the interval of the 7th above the bass.
Be able to correctly resolve the 7th factor whenever
it appears. How does it resolve, by the way?
There will be a number of music excerpts. You will be asked to
circle nonharmonic tones and describe the type. If any are
suspensions, you will be asked to identify the suspension by number.
There will also be some part-writing involving seventh chords.
Durn ... that extra credit question escapes me once more.
