Starting a CD Application

Using Easy CD Creator Project Selector makes it easy to start any CD application. From one window you can access any application to produce the type of job you want. To navigate in Project Selector:

1. Just roll your pointer over the Project Selector buttons on the left of the window. Project Selector groups the applications by project type.

2. As your pointer rolls over the button, a submenu appears with a description of each application. By clicking the buttons in the submenu, you can launch the application you want.

3. By clicking the buttons on the right side of the Project Selector window, you can:

· Check for software updates on the Internet.

· Design and make labels for your CDs.

· Access the Help menu.

Note: If your option is grayed-out, it has not been installed. To install it, insert the original Easy CD Creator CD and select the Custom option.

Make a Music CD

· Make music CDs from MP3 files you've downloaded from the Internet.

· Rip songs from your CDs and store them as MP3, WAV, or WMA files on your hard disk.

· Copy tracks from multiple CDs and combine them to make a CD of your favorite songs.

· Remove pops, clicks, and hisses from your LPs and cassettes and turn those old recordings into quality digital CDs.

· Add high-quality sound effects to give your CDs their own special twist.

· Automatically title tracks without typing by taking song titles directly from the Web.

· Utilize the Track-at-Once (TAO) feature to record tracks one at a time and apply a two-second gap between the tracks.

· Save CDs to hard disk to create a music library of compressed CDs on your computer.

You can play your custom music CDs on most standard CD players—in portable players, car, and home stereos.

SoundStream Options

SoundStream Equalizer

An equalizer allows one to increase or decrease the amplitude of sounds occurring in particular frequency ranges.  (Moving a slider upward increases the volume for that particular frequency range.  Moving a slider downward decreases volume.)  For example, in the graph above, control options are made available for the the following general frequency ranges:  30Hz, 60Hz, 120Hz, 240Hz, 500Hz, 1kHz, 2kHz, 4kHz, 8kHz, 16kHz.  This is roughly the range of human hearing.  In general, mid-range sounds are the loudest, so those typically do not need to be increased.  Often, very low and very high frequencies tend to need a boost.  An old rule of thumb is that the sliders be configured in a smile formation.  See below.

SoundStream Effects

Sound Cleaning Level:  Move slider to the right to increase the amount of sound cleaning (noise filtering) applied to a song to remove extraneous noises such as tape hiss.

Pop Removal Level:  Move slider to the right to increase the amount of pop removal applied to a song (recorded from a vinyl record)

Normalizer:  Records all tracks at equal volume.  Select this option if you are recording songs from a variety of sources that have been originally recorded at different volume levels.

SoundStream Spin Doctor

SoundStream Sound Editor

By clicking on the small icon in the upper left corner of the main SoundStream window, one can open Sound Editor.  As you can see from the image above, a wide variety of effects are available--just about everything except multitrack recording!
