Re the birth of MIDI:

  • be able to name the companies involved

  • be able to state the year of its inception

  • be able to state the title of the first MIDI document.

Be able to name a few of the parameters affected by MIDI control messages (e.g., foot pedal data, control wheel data, control slider data, etc.).

By drawing lines to represent MIDI and audio cables, be able to "interface" a computer to a synthesizer, and a synthesizer to a cassette deck.

Regarding the harmonic series (a.k.a., overtone series), be able to write out the next seven overtones (through three octaves) on any given fundamental.  A diagram appears on page 211 of the text.  It may help to think of the pattern as a ?7 chord.
