Sprechen Sie Grrr...

September 19, 2008
A Great Day for Georgetown College
A Great Day for our Tiger Bands

Ending an unprecedented early "push" this Fall - during which we had five Tiger Band Events, Performances and Activities in four weeks ~ including our annual TBLE&B [Tiger Band Leadership Event & Barbecue 9/5]], the Home-Opener Football Game [McKendree (IL) 9/6] and Tiger Football [Cumberland (TN) 9/13] ~ we get to September 19.

On this special day, the Band Scholars lived up to the historic epitaph of our Tiger Bands ... "Music for All Occasions" as the Tiger Symphonic Band had the privilege and pleasure of performing for the George H. W. Bush Center for Fitness Naming Ceremony in the morning and our much-beloved FTGPB [aka Fighting Tiger Grrr... Pep Band] continued our relationship with the fine folks at the Windsor Gardens Retirement Center in the afternoon.

Early in the morning as the sun begins to rise upon our beautiful campus - preparations are well underway for this extraordinary day.

as Colby was ill - Dr. Burnette was pressed into service on the bari sax

yes, there was "some" security for the event

a final "sweep" of the area by Pookie

Band Friend [and my NBS] Dr. Burch

a little more security

Mr. Jim Allison, great Band Friend and coordinator of the day's events

our favorite German ~ Taras

Left: approximately 1000 folks attended the event - with some very special guests [and they seemed to enjoy the Band's performance] short-people from several area schools and churches

Fledgling Hunter performs the snare roll during the unveiling

... and then our most-extraordinary "Band Day" continues - as in the afternoon the FTGPB goes to visit the fine folks at the Windsor Gardens Retirement Center as we begin the 2nd year of this cherished relationship

What a day it was ... one which we shall long cherish
