2010
Mid-South Conference Tournament Performance(s)

Dear Band Scholars & Band Friends,

Plan
Option A [very likely] – Performances at 4P [Lady Tigers] and 8P [Tigers] on Friday, March 5

Note
Option A does require that our Lady Tigers win their first-round game against Pikeville on Thursday. Tip-Off for that game is at 4:00 PM. I will be sending a note to you – immediately upon the game’s conclusion [and before I go to Lexington for a rehearsal] confirming Option A

Option B [somewhat unlikely] – Performance at 2P [Tigers] on Sunday, March 7

Note
If our Lady Tigers do not prevail Thursday night – instead of playing for the Tigers as they take on the team from West Virginia Tech Friday evening, we will wait and perform for their championship game on Sunday [if that comes to pass]

Another Note
We shall only choose Option A or B – both is not an option!

Basics
Venue: Frankfort Civic Center
Togs: Orange LTBG Polo Shirts, Khaks, Grrr… Warm-Up Jacket [ensure all clean, pressed, ready to roll]
Munch Money: 10.00 per
Coach: Blue Grass Tours

Contacts
Blue Grass Tours [Corey Jones]: 859.233.2152
Jim Horine [Driver]: 859.221.2561
Eric Ward [Athletic Director]: 859.806.6206
Pete LaRue [Tiger Bands]: 859.221.1315

General
It shall be our distinct privilege and pleasure to again be a focal point of excellence, excitement and enthusiasm for our Teams and our College at the Conference Tournament [and the Civic Center is a great place in which to perform].

As always – we need to be flexible as there shall still be a few unanswered questions until our arrival in Frankfort. I know you will be Grrr… Great!

*you are heartily encouraged to wear your “Band-Bands”

*personal expressions of your Grrr… Spirit are encouraged, but considered optional*

*no non-GTC clothing, hats, et al will be permitted in the venue*

Other Information

Special Guests: The Lobi, Miss Sheila and the Glowatzi

Academic Obligations: Your teachers have been told of your absence, however it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to take care of any academic obligations for which you might be responsible

Media: There will be [usually is] a pretty good amount of media at the Tournament – in all – with all – use your head and ensure you well-represent our Tiger Bands and Georgetown College [if someone wants an actual interview, please refer them to Me, Dewey or Mrs. Lobitz].

Munch-Money: as previously indicated you will each be given 10.00 for meal money – they are several concession areas in the Civic Center and we will have a break between the two games [Option A]

Performances: We shall always start our actual Grrr… Performances 30 minutes prior to Tip-Off(s)

Logistics: We [aided by Mr. Ward] are working to ensure we can set-up in one spot and stay in that spot for the duration [rather than having to move or break-down/re-set all of the I/E

Everyone Pitch-In: As we shall move-in, move-out “en masse” it is essential that everyone helps carry as much as they can [if I see empty hands – that shan’t be good] – Thanks.

Togs: Your Togs [as previously outlined] shall serve as your “admission pass” to the venue – and as such, must be strictly followed [and you must stay as a group].

Flexibility: Although we have performed for both conference and national tournaments many, many times – each takes on a bit of a different nature. In all, with all be flexible and be chipper

Privilege: It is a true privilege for us to be able to support our Teams and our College in this venue. Our performances must be approached with that mind-set.

Crews

Front-End Crew
Dewey, Stephen, Logan & PJL

*note*

Even though we have performed at the Civic Center several times over the years – there are always unanswered questions – are we being considered “high” seed or “low” seed; in the stands or on the floor; will another band be present ~ I could go on and on [all of these variations have existed in the past] – the Front-End Crew – will help me uncover answers to these questions with the help of Eric Ward [if we were to travel west later in March we would follow a similar protocol]

Loading Crew: Sean [Coordinator], Hunter, Neemo, Chris & Eddie

*note*

The sole function of the Loading Crew is to “load” the I/E on the coach [two gents underneath, three gents passing the equipment to them] and unload – reverse process – lining up all I/E neatly on the sidewalk or designated spot ~ in no way is the loading crew your personal “valet” – it is your responsibility to ensure your instrument is taken to the coach – taken to the performance venue – this is an unchanging rule

White Trash Crew: Kacey, Rachel, Lauren, Emily, Karolina & Lindsay

*note*
As always, the purpose of the White Trash Crew is to ensure our “area” is picked up and neat during and after our performances

Very Important Note 1

An important rule for all Grrr…  Excursions – be they long jaunts or short jaunts – is that you never get off the coach until specifically instructed to do so. This is for your safety – and for the general management of operational issues [i.e. the FEC might get off, then a bit later, the LC, then all percussionists, then everyone, et al]

Very Important Note 2

The “other” team(s)/college’s band(s) [might/will/probably] be present. As such – and as the absolute arbiters of class and dignity for the entire conference – we shall be our charming best, gracious to a fault and collegial to the extreme. We know the rules better than anyone [as you know, most were written to protect others from our “Grrring”] and we shall abide by them – even if others do not. Issues of comparison [let alone some bizarre “competition”] between us and another band is an anathema to all for which we stand. We are what we are. We have done it longer, better and essentially set the stage for all others. What they do is their business – What we do is simply exceptional!

Very Important Note 3
We [obviously] shan’t be at home – and such, we need to remember that our behavior [and I am talking “little things” here] will be reflective on our Tiger Bands and our College. Ensure that you put your best foot forward in this really smashing venue.
