Good Thoughts & Admonishments

As I complete the additions, updates and changes to our “TBW” [aka Tiger Band Web] for the coming 2014-2015 academic year and reflect on the many blessings [mostly undeserved] which we all share, I am also reminded of the many times each day when we choose “the lower road, when the higher road” is definitely present.

Our lives are the “sum total” of the plethora of decisions, large and small, which we make each day. As in our modern society it seems that we have collectively “dummied down” or moved to the “lowest common denominator” in all matters, spiritual, intellectual, and social. I want to again challenge each of us in Tiger Band Land [starting with myself] to make higher road choices in all things so you might consider …

Remember ~ it is always a “crowded stage”
our lives represent the gifts and blessings of many, many other folks

When you feel you have been “wronged” ...
Smile at someone

When you feel like “nothing ever works out” for you ...
Call or write a relative or friend who was in the armed services; fighting for our country, enduring hardship and ensuring our freedom

When you are considering “skipping” a class ...
Call your Ma or Pa and thank them for providing a college education for you

When you are complaining about the cafeteria food ...
Take a can of food down to the AMEN house for the needy

When you are complaining about a certain teacher or a particular class ...
Write a thank you note to that teacher back home who helped get you here

When you are “talking about” a friend or acquaintance ...
Call an old friend who “stuck by you” when others did not

Remember Always ... The “Magic Words”
Please, Thank-You,
Yes Sir, No Ma'am, et al

and please remember the great words of Spafford ...

When peace like a river, attendeth my way ...
When sorrows like sea billows roll ...
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say ....
It is Well, It is Well - with my Soul.
