Review Basic Patterns, Gestures

Week 2:
non-verbal gestures, independence of hands, weighted gestures,
active and passive gestures, score study, work on Stars & Stripes [or similar musical offering TBA]

Week 3:
Palette of gestures - dynamics
Preparatory beats on/for all counts
Releases - varying methods uses  

Week 4:
continue work on melded gestures
Continue work on weighted gestures
Begin Discussion of Literature
work on Holsinger Hymnsong [or similar musical offering TBA]

Week 5:
Continue discussion of Literature
programming, selecting a program

Week 6:
Discussions on mixed, non-metrical conducting,
challenges of mixed-meter, continue work on left hand,
increase vocabulary of gestures

Week 7:
Introduce asymmetrical and changing meters,
continue discussion of literature, band history,
work on facial mask, podium presence
work on Irish Rhapsody [or similar musical offering TBA]

Week 8:
Review general terms and transpositions and overtone series
Continue work on asymmetrical and changing meters
Review cues - use, approaches

Week 9:
Continue work on cues - left hand, head, eyes
Expand efforts on dynamics, melded gestures, weighted gestures,

rehearsal strategies, ensemble communications,
issues of trust - loyalty - dedication - esprit de corps

Week 14:
What makes a conductor? How can we continue to improve?
