Final Project and Essay

Final Conducting Project [100 points possible]

On Thursday, May 1st  [last day of class], you will present your Final Conducting Project [FCP]. This project will be worth 100 points. As with all other of the conducting projects - the evaluation will be one-half self-evaluation, and one-half teacher evaluation. For this project you will use a baton and conduct an excerpt from the great Carl Orff classic, "Uf Dem Anger" from Carmina Burana [Labuta Text M-15, pages 268-269]. These projects will be video-taped, and viewed privately - at a scheduled time - with the teacher - for evaluation. The FCP should exemplify well-developed baton technique, presence, preparatory beats, control of tempi, control of the mixed-meter nature of the excerpt, and all other facets of good conducting.

Final Conducting Essay [50 points possible]

By Friday, May 2nd [Reading Day] , you will have completed and turn-in your Final Conducting Essay. The Strong FCE will contain your thoughts on conducting, drawing from EA3, EA4, & EA5, drawing from your own experience and other readings and discussions from the semester. This assignment will be posted and completed via MuggleNet and the successful FCE will be approximately 500 words in length.
