ScholarNet Information and Disclaimer

ScholarNet 1.0 [the original version] was created during the winter of 1996. The purpose of ScholarNet was to enhance the learning opportunities for assorted Scholars at Georgetown College for whom I have responsibility.

ScholarNet 1.0 utilized the network "mapping" concept and proved very successful as Scholars could access appropriate "folders" for specific information and assignments and "drop-off" assignments as required. ScholarNet 1.0 was developed with the help and cooperation of Grover Hibberd and John Jones of Georgetown College ITS.

ScholarNet 2.0 [the new, improved version] was created during the fall of 1999 and utilizes many of the original concepts of ScholarNet - moving it to a web-based environment. Additionally, improvements in technology enable enhancements such as pictures, audio clips and video clips to become a part of ScholarNet. ScholarNet 2.0 was designed with the help of Andrea Peach and Sonny Burnette of Georgetown College. ScholarNet 2.0 was first put into service during the Spring 2000 semester, at which time it was recognized with the Rollie Graves Technology Award by Georgetown College. With further revisions, updates and additions it was placed into service - in its final form - for the Fall 2000 semester. ScholarNet was re-formatted and re-designed for the 2001-2002 academic year - which was ScholarNet 3.0.

For the Fall 2002 Semester - I re-formatted the course itself - which necessitated additional changes in ScholarNet - and with that and additional "tweaking" during the 2003 academic year - we utilized what we knew as ScholarNet 4.30.

After running an "experiment" regarding "V" [aka Virtual] versus "RT" [aka Real-Time] evaluations [on a T] during the Fall 2003 Semester - it appeared that this might be more than a good thing. For the Spring 2004 Semester, I expanded upon this concept which again drastically affected the nature and content of ScholarNet. As all seemed successful, we shall continue this binge. While preparing for the 2004-2005 academic year, I re-formatted ScholarNet Main - and made some other minor changes to the class and the web. For the Spring 2005 Semester I further "tweaked" the web a skosh. During 2006 through 2009 I made some additional changes & modifications to ScholarNet. For the Spring and Fall 2010 Semesters - I had made several substantive changes to ScholarNet, as well as during the Spring and Fall 2011 Semesters. For our 2012 Spring Semester, I have "tweaked" the old girl a bit more, as well as made a few more modifications to the 8:00 Scholar Experience. To this end, we are currently using ScholarNet Version 6.50.

ScholarNet is designed solely for use by students at Georgetown College and as such, all materials included are considered purely "educational". All content is the sole responsibility of Peter LaRue, and as such, I take full responsibility for any errors or omissions which might be included.

I would like to thank all of the many friends, colleagues and certainly the suggestions and help of many past 8:00 Scholars, who have helped make ScholarNet a reality.

Thank -You
Pete LaRue
