Operas and Musicals at Georgetown College

The Georgetown College Department of Music produces a full-scale lyric theatre production each fall semester. Dr. Heather Winter Hunnicutt is the director of the Lyric Theatre Program and is the Stage Director of each of these productions. Operatic productions are typically sung in the original language with English supertitle translations projected above the stage.

Auditions for operas and operettas are in the spring semester prior to the fall production, and students cast in the opera must enroll in MUS 470 Chamber Opera. Auditions for musicals are held in the early fall upon return to school. All auditions are open to any Georgetown student. It is recommended that students cast in an opera, operetta or musical also be enrolled in voice lessons during the same semester (MUS 160, MUS 161, MUS 162, MUS 361 or MUS 362).
