CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS The students of Georgetown College may join the Lambert Law Society, a student organization that provides a forum for discussion, education, and preparation for law school and/or a legal career. The Lambert Law Society invites lawyers, judges, lobbyists, and politicians to speak to the group about their law-related careers. Every year, the Lambert Law Society sponsors a Kentucky Law School Forum where the Deans of Admission from each of the state's law schools speak about admissions, financial aid, and other topics related to the admissions process. Law professors and former and current law students have also spoken to the group about life in law school. On occasion, the Lambert Law Society will visit local courtrooms to observe the legal process first-hand, and to speak with those involved. The lighter side of the law is revealed at the Lambert Law Society's social events, including film nights, featuring such classic legal movies as The Paper Chase, The Firm, and others. Every fall semester, the Lambert Law Society sponsors a "Good Luck" pizza party for those students who plan to take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) in October. The Georgetown Model United Nations Club (GMUNC) promotes cultural understanding and diversity by encouraging student participation in model UN conferences. Conference activities include the role-playing of a country and its foreign policy interests. A model UN course is offered during the fall semester. Dr. Michael Cairo serves as the advisor for the group. PI SIGMA ALPHA (OMEGA LAMBDA CHAPTER) Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society, is the only honor society for college and university students of government in the United States. At present, there are 621 Pi Sigma Alpha chapters on campuses across the country. Pi Sigma Alpha is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies. |
