New Mentoring Program
The mentorship program for the Alpha Lambda Chapter is a new program that the chapter is trying to start for the benefit of the undergraduate members and the alumni. There are several purposes that the program will have once it is up and running. First, it will allow for the actives of the chapter to interact with the alumni of the chapter. Secondly, it allows us to keep in touch with our roots and start an everlasting network of friends that can be called upon if one needs help making a tough decision. The hardest part of starting the mentorship program is getting it started. That is why we need the help from all alumni will to take a little responsibility and give guidance to an undergraduate that may need some help.
Currently, we are having alumni come in and speak to the chapter about a variety of issues dealing with their profession. By doing this we are giving the undergraduate members a tool for making decisions in the future based on what someone else has already done. This is helpful because the mentor can tell undergraduates the in's and out’s of what they have been through including any mistakes they made along the way. The mentors can also offer any advice they feel necessary for undergraduate members that are planning to go into the same area.
We are currently looking for alumni that have expertise in the areas of management, marketing, economics, finance, sales, theatre, communications, law, and education. If you are interested in becoming a mentor please fill out the sheet below and return to Kenny Marcum. We also have spots available for mentors to come and speak to the undergraduate members in the spring of 2002.
