Please see the Help Desk before starting to burn CDs.

The software currently installed on the computer connected to the mass producing CD burner is Padus Software’s Disk Juggler. As this software may not be familiar to the everyday user, this tutorial shall also take care of that.

  1. Turn on the CD burner via the black switch on the right side before turning on the computer.
  2. Insert the “master” CD (this is the CD you wish to copy into the computer’s disk drive (not the CD burner drives), and place some blank CDs inside the three metal posts on the CD burner.
  3. Open the Disk Juggler software via the start menu.
  4. Click FileNew (if the New Task dialog does not open automatically)
  5. Now choose one of the following
    1. If you wish to copy a CD then select Copy CD’s and DVD’s on-the-fly (the fourth choice down)
    2. OR if you wish to compile and burn a CD from data available somewhere select New CD
  6. Now tell the system the location of the “master” CD and the CD to be burned
    1. Set the Source drive to be the computer’s drive (LITEON CD-ROM for this system)
    2. and set the Destination drive to DiskMakers Elite (com1)
    3. These are the default settings.
  7. Now tell the system what it is to do as it burns the CDs
    1. Set the Action to Write
    2. or Write and Verify if you wish the computer to verify that an exact copy has been made
      • Editorial comment: I believe that if the computer finishes recording, then it has made a valid copy. If there is an error, the computer stops recording and you’ll know it, so I think the verify option is redundant and unnecessary
  8. Set the number of copies you wish. There are two drives on the CD burner. If you select an odd number of copies to be made, a dialog box will pop up telling you that the number of drives is either higher or lower than the number of copies. It will then ask whether you want the number of drives to take precedence, or the number of copies. Select the NO option to keep the number of copies you selected instead of rounding to an even number.
  9. Click Toolsoptions, then choose the Autoloader tab. Make sure that the “cycle only” option is unchecked (it should already be). If this box is checked, the CD burner will appear to be burning the CD, but will only use the read strength laser instead of the write strength laser, resulting in a complete waste of your time. It took me a bit to discover this setting.
  10. Press Start
  11. Watch as the machine does its job. When everything is completed, there is no need to “save the changes to task 1” when you close the software.
  12. Turn off the computer, then the CD burner when you are all finished
