Proxima LCD Projector
Asher Computing Lab (Asher 130)
Getting Started
Utilizing this projector system is really quite simple.
- Log on to the instructor station, located in the rear right corner of the
room (closest to the door)
- Turn on the projector via the green “standby/on” button on the remote.
NOTE: there are IR receivers on both the front and back of the projector, so
it doesn’t matter if you’re in front or behind it when you use the remote, but
the remote does have a somewhat limited range, so you may need to be within 6
or so feet of it for a signal to transmit
- When you have successfully turned on the projector, an orange light on the
bottom will begin flashing, turning to a steady green when the projector is
on. Conversely, when you turn the projector off, that light will go from a
steady green to a flashing orange, then to a steady orange when it is finally
off.
- You’re all set and should now be projecting what is being displayed on the
instructor station’s monitor.
To Get Sound
- Turn on the Dukane amplifier located on the floor to the right of the
instructor station. The on switch is located on the far right side of the amp,
which is the side closest to the floor
- After turning on the amp, you need to adjust the output volume on the
computer. The volume control panel may be accessed one of two ways:
- either via the yellow speaker icon located in the systray (to the left
of the clock on the bottom right corner of the screen)
- or by clicking the start button, selecting programs, then selecting
accessories, then selecting entertainment, and finally selecting “Volume
Control.”
- Once you have that control panel up:
- first check the master volume slider, which should be located on the
far left of the panel. This should be at about 1/2 to 2/3 the way up.
- second, check the WAVE slider. This needn’t be up very high at all.
- lastly, check the volume knob on the amp. Set this rather low for
starters, then adjust the sound using the WAVE slider on the volume
control. If, however, you find the need to take the WAVE slider above 2/3,
then raise the volume using the volume knob on the amp. Once you find an
acceptable volume level, you’re all finished and ready to display video
and play sound.
