Inserting Page Numbers
Overview of Page Numbering
Two Ways in Insert Page Numbers
Page numbers can be inserted using the Header
and Footer Toolbar or the Page Numbers Dialog Box.
- Use the Header and Footer Toolbar if you want to
insert dates, times, and other text along with page
numbers
- Use the Page Numbers Dialog Box to insert page
numbers without additional text.
Regardless
of which method you use to insert page numbers, page numbers in
Microsoft Word are always part of a header or footer. As
noted
elsewhere, headers/footers are not visible in the Normal
view!
Positioning and Formatting Page Numbers
- The Page Numbers Dialog Box is used to determine the
position of the page number.
- The Page Number Format dialog
box, which is accessed from the Page Numbers Dialog Box
or from the Header and Footer
Toolbar, is used to set the style and format of page
numbers.
