An object is any element on a slide. Objects can contain text, clip art pictures, charts, organization charts, or other types of graphics. Revisit the concept of an Autolayout and its relationship to slides. An autolayout is a predefined layout for a slide in which one or more objects have been arranged on the slide that act as placeholders. To complete the slide, you simply fill in these elements. For example, if you select the Bulleted List slide layout, the slide will contain two object placeholders, a title element and a bulleted text element. On the other hand, if you select the Text and Chart slide layout (or the Chart and Text slide layout), the slide will contain three object placeholders, a title element, a bulleted text element, and a chart element.
You cannot place text directly on a slide. Instead, a slide must contain at least one text object if you want text to appear on the slide.
