Using Other Clip Elements

The Microsoft Clip Gallery can also be used to add other graphic elements such as pictures, photos, sounds and videos. You can also add these elements from files not in the clip gallery but instead stored on a disk or CD. In either case, there is a slight difference in how this is done depending upon the version of PowerPoint you are using.

The “Pictures” tab contains photographic-quality images, the “Sounds” tab contains clips of recorded sounds, and the “Videos” tab contains clips of digitized video. Consequently, if you wish to add one of these clips, you need only do the following:

If you have the appropriate equipment, you can create your own photographic-quality images, clips of recorded sounds, or clips of digitized video. Or you may purchase a CD containing photographic-quality images, clips of recorded sounds, or clips of digitized video. In any case, these clips will not be contained in the Microsoft Clip Gallery but will instead be stored on your hard drive or on a removable disk (zip disk, superdisk, or CD) for your created material, or on the CD you purchased. The steps to add these clips to your presentation are:

Inserting a Picture Using the Clip Gallery

When you open the clip gallery as described previously in PowerPoint 2000, you will note that only one tab appears in the 2000 Clip Gallery dialog box and that tab is labeled “Pictures”. In this version of PowerPoint, “clip art pictures” and photographic-quality images are located under this single tab. The same is true for PowerPoint 2001 where the drop-down list is labeled “All Pictures”. To find the photographic-quality images included in the Clip Gallery, scroll until you see the “Photographs” category. Consequently, if you wish to add photographic-quality images from the Clip Gallery, you need only do the following:
