Navigating in Spreadsheets
One of the keys to spreadsheet success is
being able to move around. Here's how:
Using the Keyboard
cursor keys
-

enters
any data in the formula bar and moves the active cell one cell
to the right
-

enters
any data in the formula bar and moves the active cell one cell
to the left
-

enters
any data in the formula bar and moves the active cell one cell
down
-

enters
any data in the formula bar and moves the active cell one cell
up
Return, Shift-Return / Enter,
Shift-Enter keys
- <RETURN> / <ENTER> enters any
data in the formula bar and moves the active cell one cell
down
- <SHIFT-RETURN> / <Shift-Enter>
enters any data in the formula bar and moves the active cell
one cell up
Tab, Shift-Tab keys
<ENTER> key on the numeric keypad
- Macintosh: enters any data in the formula bar, active cell
stays the same
- Windows: operates the same as <ENTER>
above
Using the Name Box
The Name Box on the Formula Bar may also be used to navigate in
a spreadsheet.

- click in the Name Box to select the cell reference
- type in a new reference
- press <RETURN> / <ENTER> to
directly move to that cell
The GoTo Command
Using GoTo to Move to a Specific Cell
- choose Edit


Go To
(or press Ctrl+G (Windows)
- enter a cell reference in the [Reference:] box
- click


Using GoTo Special
- choose Edit


Go To
(or press Ctrl+G (Windows)
- click


- click the appropriate radio button to locate the desired portion of
the worksheet that matches the selected criteria
