Freeze Panes
Sometimes it is useful to lock row(s) and/or
column(s) in place to keep these titles/labels visible as you
scroll in the worksheet. To do this:
- position the cursor in a cell that is just
below the title row(s) and/or immediately to the right of title
column(s)
- choose Window
Freeze Panes
- all rows above the active cell and/or all columns to the
left of the active are now locked in place when
scrolling
- a nonprinting border will appear at the right edge of
rightmost frozen column and at the bottom edge of the lowest
frozen row
-
- to freeze rows or columns only
- to lock only rows, position the cursor in column
A below the title row(s)
- to lock only columns, position the cursor in row
1 just to the right of title column(s)
-
- to unfreeze locked rows/columns, choose
Window
Unfreeze Panes
This
command acts as a toggle.
- If no rows or columns are
locked in place, the command will read Window
Freeze Panes.
- If rows or columns are locked in place, the
command will read Window
Unfreeze Panes.
