Using Microsoft Excel for Statistical Analysis
Microsoft Excel contains a variety of statistical analysis
tools. This page will show you how to access them. Since there are
so many different statistical tools included with Excel, this page
will not explain how to use each of them. For that, you will need
to consult with your instructor or consult one of these
references:
- Data Analysis in Plain English with Microsoft Excel (Harvey
J. Brightman) [Duxbury Press]
- Data Analysis Using Microsoft Excel: Updated for Office 97
& 98 (Michael R. Middleton) [Brooks/Cole]

Microsoft Excel
| Microsoft Excel comes with a number of different data analysis
tools; unfortunately, not all of them are automatically installed
with the standard Excel installation. To add one or more of them
do the following: |
- Choose Tools
Add-Ins
- Select the desired add-in from the dialog (you
may check as many as you wish)
- note that a description of what the add-in offers is
displayed at the bottom of the dialog box
- the Analysis ToolPak and Analysis ToolPak - VBA provide
most, if not all, of the usual statistical tools
- the Data Analysis command will now appear in the
Tools menu, to use these tools see the previous
section
